I haven't been diligent about blogging this month. :-( To remedy this, I'm going to re-post an interesting article I read the other day from ComputerWorld.com. It was written by
Mike Elgan, someone who "learns, thinks, writes, and speaks about techonology," and in it he details 10 things (both generic and specific) that he beleives won't survive this recession because of technological reasons. I am just going to quickly list all ten items, however, I encourage everyone read the
original article for his clever rationale behind each.
- Free tech support
- Wi-fi you have to pay for
- Landline phones
- Movie rental stores
- Web 2.0 companies without a business plan
- Most companies in Silicon Valley
- Palm Inc.
- Yahoo
- Half of all retail stores
- Satellite Radio

Wait a second. Don't most of these things already have one foot in the grave?
Just wanted to add my two cents about Satellite Radio. Get a phone with good sound and an unlimited data plan and go to www.1.fm or www.pandora.com. I'm addicted to both. Or just use your computer. And apparently if you have the right equipment you can play this stuff through your home stereo.
And I firmly believe that Google is going to crush Yahoo! :)
One could argue just about everything has one foot in the grave right now. Except for Amazon.com, of course. :-P
